RunFAR Offers New Disposable Tag Timing System
Starting August 29, 2008, RunFAR Racing Services, Inc., will use the new disposable road racing timing system created by ChronoTrack Systems for selected events over 1,000 participants.
Timed Participants will no longer have to register their timing chip at packet pick, or have it removed at the finish line. The new system allows race organizers to print an integrated bib and tag for each participant, encoding the runner’s bib number into the tag’s RFID chip. The peel-off, disposable portion of the bib becomes a tag that runners attach to their shoes.

Because of this new system, runners may no longer wear their own ChampionChip in the race.
ChronoTrack Systems, Inc. is a timing and tracking company that has developed a cost-effective system for timing athletic events including road races using commercially available, EPCglobal-certified, UHF RFID tags and readers. ChronoTrack has developed the disposable “D” Tag, an all-weather design for attaching an EPCglobal-certified, commercially available RFID tag to the foot. ChronoTrack, in concert with its strategic partner, Impinj, Inc., has designed custom UHF RFID controllers and antennas that specifically read “D” Tags in a racing environment.
